| The safety of our swimmers is of paramount importance to the club, and we take that responsibility very seriously.
All our coaches are trained in Adult/Child/Infant CPR & first aid, and have completed the Red Cross Swim Coaches Safety program. They are also fully certified USA Swimming Coaches and have been through a rigorous background check.
From the moment your child arrives at the pool, to the moment they are picked up, our coaches are responsible for their safety. However, it is not possible for the coaches to patrole the locker rooms, reception area or parking lot while they are on-deck, so we need all parents and swimmers to be aware of the following intructions:
Allergies/Asthma/Medication:
If your child has severe allergies or asthma and is taking medication they need to keep the medication on deck while they swim. Coaches are not authorized to administer ANY medication to swimmers including inhalers, epi-pens or tylenol. If there is a life-threatening emergency coaches will call 911.
1: Pick-up schedule:
- Coaches clear the pool at 5:55pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:40pm on Monday, Wednesday, Friday
- Coaches or Parent Team Managers clear the showers at 6:15pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
- Swimmers should be picked up no later than 6:20pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:05pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
- Parent Team Managers (volunteers) will remain present until pick up deadlines on each day.
- Parents or guardians late for pick-up are asked to call the front desk to make arrangements for the safe collection of their swimmers.
2: Swimmers MUST remain on-deck under the supervision of the coaches if a parent is late for an early session pick-up. Parents should notify the coach when taking a child from the deck, so that we can be sure they have been collected, and not wandered off.
3: Swimmers may not wait out in the reception area or parking lot unless there is either a parent team manager or coach present.
4: At a swim meet, we employ a buddy system to ensure the safety of all swimmers in an unfamiliar environment. Swimmers should not wander around a facility by themselves. ALWAYS go with a friend, whether to buy a snack or use the restroom.
5: Cancellation of practice: We follow the school district attendance policy. If it is deemed to dangerous to go to school, practice will be cancelled, otherwise please assume that practice will go-ahead unless you hear otherwise. Information will be sent out via email as early as possible. Please call 206-463-0378 if you are concerned.
6: Swimmers who do not follow coaches instructions and put their team-mates safety at risk by misbehaving in the pool, on-deck or in the locker room will be counselled by a coach(s) in the presence of their parent or guardian. If the behavior continues, we may have to excuse the swimmer from practice and as a last resort ask the swimmer to leave the team (see the team discipline policy).
