This summer we have a new entry level for swimmers

White: Introduction to Competitive Swimming
Swimmers must be at least 6 yrs of age and be able to:

• Listen and follow directions without being disruptive
• Be comfortable in the water
• Be able to jump in and get to the side
• Be able to blow bubbles underwater
• ‘Swim’ 10 yds any style

Please come prepared to swim: Cap, good fitting goggles, swimsuit and towel. All swimmers who wish to be assessed need to be there at least 10 minutes before to get changed and ready to swim.

New swimmers and swimmers who have missed two sessions must tryout before registering with the Park District.

Try-outs do not guarantee a place in the team. When each level is full, applicants will be placed on a waiting list at the Park District.

Vashon's Swim Team, The Seals, hold placement tryouts so that the coaches can assess a swimmer's skills and place him/her in the appropriate training group.

As our Fall facility limits the amount of swimmers we can enroll, our entry level skill requirements have changed for the 2009/10 season:

Swimmers must be at least 7 yrs of age and be able to:

• Listen and follow directions without being disruptive
• Swim 40 yds Freestyle without stopping
• Swim 40 yds Backstroke without stopping
• Swim 10 yds Breaststroke
• Swim 10 yds Dolphin Kick / Butterfly
• Push off the wall and glide in a streamline position

Please come prepared to swim: Cap, good fitting goggles, swimsuit and towel. All swimmers who wish to be assessed need to be there at least 20 minutes before to get changed and ready to swim.

New swimmers and swimmers who have missed a session must tryout before registering with the Park District.
