The Brucey Wall of Fame
The Brucey is a special Seals award to honor individual achievement and competitive excellence. Swimmers earn it through the greatest cumulative time drop at a swim meet. It will be passed from swimmer to swimmer throughout the year, and then will be presented to the athlete with the greatest cumulative time drop for the 2009 season at the Team BBQ.
The original trophy was won by the Seal's Aquatic Director, Bruce Jackson, in 1966 when he swam the 200 yard Backstroke against a 14 year old Jack Horsley. Jackson took first place and won the trophy that is now attached to a beautiful wooden base made by Seals President emeritus, Gary Gray. Two years later the young swimmer Jackson touched out on that day went on to win a Bronze in the 1968 Olympics in the same event.
