White: Stroke School*
This is the entry level for the Seals. Athletes focus on stroke technique and kicking with an emphasis on breathing, balance and having fun. Swimmers are also introduced to relays, turns, the clock, drills and basic water safety. To enter this group, athletes should be able to:
- Listen and follow directions without being disruptive
- Be comfortable in the water
- Be able to jump in and get to the side
- Be able to blow bubbles underwater
- ‘Swim’ 10 yds any style
Blue: Stroke School*
Improved stroke technique, kicking and the development of good training habits are the main focus of this group. Athletes swim longer distances, applying skills with more fluidity and confidence. Swimmers also begin to attend meets for training and practice.
Bronze, Silver & Gold: Competitive*
As athletes move into competitive training groups the workouts become more challenging. There is a consistent emphasis on technique as building stamina and speed becomes a priority. Swimmers begin to understand the importance of setting personal goals and maintaining a supportive team environment.
Adult Novice & Masters†:
Novice workouts are designed to reinforce core fitness, breathing and balance, as well as teaching correct stroke technique. The focus
for Masters athletes is on building endurance and speed with good form. We also offer Open Water workshops to guide athletes training for triathlon competition.
Dryland Core Stability & Strength
Our dryland program has been designed by
Seals coaches to compliment in-water training. Cardiovascular, flexibility and strength activities are designed to target stroke-specific muscle groups as well as building a foundation for complete core fitness.
